Bobby Goldfarb passed away on September 18, 2024, at 97 years of age.
Ruben R. Ramirez, President of El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame said of Mr. Goldfarb, “He was the grandfather of El Paso Athletic Hall of Famer Sara Walker and father-in-law to Ross Walker who is also in the Hall and Ross was married to the now deceased Mr. Goldfarb’s daughter Terry.”
A true sports legend, Mr. Goldfarb was the 1969 past president of the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame and was inducted into the USTA Southwest Tennis Hall of Fame and winner of numerous national junior and collegiate tennis championships.
To this day, he is the youngest person to play in a Texas State Basketball Championship, which he won with his El Paso High School team. He was also the Captain of the University of Texas tennis team and the first Jewish player ever to play at the River Oaks Country Club during the 1948 NCAA national championships.
Bobby Goldfarb will have a graveside service on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
