Danny McKillip – “A Track and Field Coaching Icon”
“Danny McKillip was a Champion in Sports and in Life”
Danny McKillip, a 1991 inductee into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame and a longtime Track and Field Coach at El Paso High School and a great historian on the rich history of high school track in the city has passed away.
The EPISD Board of Trustees had just approved two weeks ago the naming of the Track at El Paso after Mr. McKillip.
Ruben R. Ramirez, the current Hall President said about McKillip, “We have lost a champion in sports as a coach and in life as a man as Coach McKillip was all about the players he coached in making them great athletes and greater citizens for later in life.”
Mr. McKillip went through his last years with health difficulties and always had his wife by his side. He would have a smile for Hello, always a kind word for others and a tremendous appreciation for the world of Track and Field and his fellow coaches.
Rest in Peace Mr. McKillip and the very best to your family in this difficult time.
