Elsie A. Partridge recently passed away at the age of 91 in El Paso, Texas. She was the very first Athletic Director for the El Paso Independent School District and was directly involved in the implementation of Title IX into the District.
Under her leadership she successfully advanced the development of girls’ sports throughout the city while also elevating the stature of boys’ sports.
Dr. Scott Stein, current El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame President, said “The accolades for what Mrs. Partridge accomplished not only in El Paso but throughout the State of Texas made an indelible mark for the sports history of both boys and girls. We would like to extend our condolences to the entire Partridge family.”
Mrs. Partridge was a 2003 inductee into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame as her husband J.D. Partridge, a legendary football coach in the community, was inducted into the Hall in 1987.
In lieu of flowers, donate and support your favorite Girls and Boys Athletic Teams or Catholic parish. A rosary and Mass will be at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa St. at 10:00 a.m. on October 10. Inurnment will be October 11, at Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Lane, Sunland Park, New Mexico at 11 am.
