In Memory of Jimmy Rogers Jr


El Paso Athletic Hall of Famer, Jimmy Rogers, Jr., most affectionally known as Mr. Sun Bowl, has passed away.


Mr. Rogers, who was the guiding force behind the CBS television contact for the
annual Sun Bowl football game and a proud and distinguished volunteer for many charitable causes and civic events has passed away. He volunteered for over 60 years with the Sun Bowl and was a 1989 inductee into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame.

El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame President, Dr. Scott Stein who went to school with Mr. Rogers children is aware of the legacy of the gentle giant known as Jimmy Rogers for his quiet yet vocal voice and his ability to rally individuals behind a cause.


Dr. Stein said, “Mr. Rogers legacy with the Sun Bowl Association and the football
game and their many and varied events is a gift that keeps on giving to this city he so much loved.”
